Families may claim tuition fees as child care costs, (if parents are working). We will give you a tax receipt for the previous year in February of every year. These are mailed out if your child is no longer enrolled/Graduated, so please ensure we have your updated address if you move.

Classes run from September to June each year. There is no school on statutory holidays and we break for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Family Day & Easter.

To develop the whole child though:

  1. Social and Emotional Development
  2. Language, Cognitive and Creative Development
  3. Physical Development (Fine and Gross Motor)
  4. Health, Hygiene, Safety, and Nutrition

Parent Information

Please scroll through the information below to find out more.

There are different types of volunteer opportunities you are making a commitment to participating in when you enroll your child in preschool, including:

  • Volunteering in class and/or on field trips.
  • Toy cleaning and/or playdough making.
  • Purchasing nut-free store bought snacks for special events.
  • Participating in our annual fundraisers and casino (every three years).
  • Other additional opportunities throughout the year.

These commitments keep our program quality high and our fees low!

  • All children who attend must be a minimum of 3 years of age and toilet trained.
  • Please make sure that your child has used the washroom before coming to school. Only staff members may escort a child to the washroom. Volunteers may not be alone with any child for any reason.
  • Fire drills are held regularly and children will need a good pair of indoor shoes. There will not be time to change your child's shoes in the event of a fire or an emergency.
  • Due to students with severe nut allergies, please ensure that all your child's food is NUT FREE. This includes items that "may contain" nuts of any kind.
  • Board meetings are scheduled bi-monthly and the date and time will be on the Monthly Calendar, and emailed to families. You are encouraged to attend to share ideas or express any concerns.
  • All tuition payments are made via our Lillio App. Payments are due at the beginning of each month. If parents/guardians have paid for a month and then subsidy is approved for that month, the payment will be reimbursed once subsidy is recieved. (Any payments that “bounce” will incur an additional $25 charge to the parents/guardians over and above the tuition still due).
  • Your child's school supplies, shoes, snack bags, water bottles, etc. must be labeled. Labels can be ordered through our Mabel's Labels fundraiser. For items brought in for show and tell, you can put a piece of tape on it and print their name on the tape.

Pick Up and Drop Off

General rules for pick up and drop off.

  • A child must be brought to the school by a responsible adult and signed in and out. Due to insurance liability, children cannot be dropped off before 9:00AM.
  • Notify the school before 9:00AM the morning your child will be absent.
  • The parent/guardian dropping off the child is responsible for the removal of outerwear and presenting the child to the teachers. Please have your child use the washroom before bringing them to the classroom.
  • A cubby will be assigned to each child for the school term. Please help keep our cubbies presentable, only utilize the bottom shelves for inside and outside shoes.
  • At dismissal time, teachers will bring your child to the classroom/Stay and Play door. Please DO NOT ENTER CLASSROOM/STAY AND PLAY. This policy is intended to ensure the safety of our children and reduce confusion.
  • Notification is required if a different adult will be picking up your child. A signed note or email is acceptable. If the adult is unknown, photo ID will be required. Any person not listed by you as a person who is approved for pickup will NOT be allowed to pickup your child, (regardless, if they have photo ID).
  • PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE CHILDREN UNATTENDED IN HALLWAYS of the MDM Community Centre.
  • Unauthorized admittance into the Kids Kollege Office is strictly prohibited.

Late Pick Up Policy

  • Our insurance does not apply to children outside of the designated class times. 1:00PM is the end of our day.
  • A Late Pick Up fee of $10.00 will be charged for every 15 minutes you are late.

  • Our school year runs annually from September to June.
  • We close for public holidays including: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day, Christmas Break, Family Day, Easter Break and Victoria Day.
  • As we are not affiliated with the public schools, we are open during their PD days and "Reading Week" in February.
  • Monthly calendars will be provided to families. The calendars will hold information on upcoming events, special days and activities.
  • For your child's birthday, you may provide a special store bought snack for all of the children. Please check with the teachers any allergies in the class. Summer birthdays can be celebrated in May or June, if you wish.
  • We invite special guests into the classroom periodically. Most years we invite the RCMP, Fish and Wildlife, CNP Library, CNP Literacy and even talented musical parents.
  • The Fire Hall field trip is a highlight of the children's year. Permission slips are required to be signed as we leave the school property to walk down to the fire hall.
  • At events where parents (or another adult designated by the parent) are required to attend, all parents/guardians are responsible for their own children, since we are out of the classroom and over the child/teacher ratio.
  • “Christmas with the Kids” is a family event typically held before Christmas break.
  • An annual Valentine's Day Family event is held in February. All parents/families are invited to attend.
  • A Graduation Ceremony will be held in June for students who are moving on to Kindergarten.

Fundraising

Our biggest annual fundraising events are:

  • Casino (once every 3 years; next scheduled for 2027)
  • Purdy's Chocolate Fundraiser
  • Bottle Donation
  • Dance-a-thon

Each of these fundraisers provides essential operating funds for our Preschool programs and each relies on the energy and creativity of our community of parents and board members.

Year-Round Fundraising

In addition, we offer the following year-round fundraising opportunities:

  • Mabel's Labels Fundraiser - order anytime at mabelslabels.ca
  • Scholastic Books - order monthly at scholastic.ca using our Class Code RC635462.

Board of Directors

Board meetings are scheduled bi-monthly and the date and time will be listed on the Monthly Calendar, Monthly Newsletter, Facebook Page and emailed to families. We encourage all families to attend to share ideas or express any concerns.

Our Annual General Meeting is held in October each year.

Volunteer board members are always needed. Volunteering is a great way to be involved, assist your community, and to meet new people.

Please contact the Board of Directors anytime throughout the year via email at kidskollegecnp@gmail.com if you are interested in a position on the board or another volunteer opportunity.
